Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. - Deuteronomy 6:5

With All Your Heart

When we eat in a fancy restaurant, we usually expect several courses to our meal: appetizer, entrée, and dessert at the very least. When we attend a play or concert, we know that it will include a beginning, middle, and end in order for the performance to be complete. And when we meet someone we love, someone who clearly loves us just for who we are, we want them to know us completely. We want to be seen and understood fully.

With God, the same is true. He wants us to love him with all dimensions of our being, not just when we go to church or say an occasional prayer. Our relationship with him is the most important one we will ever have. So we must be committed to giving him everything we’ve got—our full attention, dedication, and devotion.

Today, consider how you can love God more fully by what you think, say, and do.

Pray: “Father, I love you and want to devote my heart, soul, and strength to showing my love for you. Reveal any areas that I need to relinquish in order to love you more fully.”
